When there is an activity happening in a place can benefit economically, people build and settle around. A mining town or community start with the settling of women and children. Mining sustains the living standards of the people with the establishment of facilities such as schools, hospitals, and churches. A mining town can last for as long as the mineral extracted still exist. Some cities continue to thrive even after the extinction of the mine while others became ghost towns.

Housing around a mine

The houses like stores, saloons, and warehouses get built. Although the geological location can enhance the existence of the town even after mining ended, the houses around a mine should be simple and less costly. The old wild western railroad model buildings, after people leave the site, will still stand and have no help to anyone. The people living in these towns have a close relation like family and friends. These people keep moving from one place to another looking for settlement around the mine of their interest. The people govern the town concerning security, peace, and order. The miners can develop a remote area where human settlement would seem impossible.

Existence within the communities

Coexistence of the people in the communities encourages teachings about mining to the children and other viable investors. Therefore, more specialists in mining emerge who would continue the exploration. The houses people live in cannot be tall because the settlements sometimes are located in hostile areas prone to an earthquake, which can bring the homes trembling down. The community is in a strategic position to avoid big loses that can occur in case big rocks run down hills or mountains. The distance of the mining site and the place of processing is minimal. Processing around the town reduces cost; thus, more earning leading to higher incomes.
